Under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (‘SSFA 1998’), schools refusing admissionto pupils are required to have in place an independent appeals mechanism, operated in line with the School Admission Appeal Code (‘the Code’). West Berkshire Council is able to offer a School Admission Appeals service for independent schools, operated in line with the Code. It defines the objectives of the service, articulates the cost per appeal and provides a description of the activities associated with its provision. It is provided by and is managed by the Policy and Communication Service of West Berkshire Council
A collective fund designed to provide financial compensation to participating schools for the cost of providing support cover for absent teaching or non-teaching staff.
